Need to stretch a truck chassis - how do some of you do it?
Is there evergreen shapes to replicate a frame?
or do you have to scavenge frame rails from a donor kit? If so, do all AMT kits have the same size frame rails? (like italiari?)

I've only done one but I used a donor frame from the same AMT kits. I cut mine straight or square in the center of the frame to separate the two main pieces and then cut the extension pieces and placed them in the middle glueing strips on the inside so as to be hidden and tried to add stability or strength back to the frame. I added maybe an inch. But that's how I did mine. Hope it helped. Kerry

Thanks for the info, guys! A donor truck to stretch the chassis gets to be pretty pricey! Seems you can't get a truck kit for under $50 these days...

Once in a while on E-bay a fella sells frame rails. They start the bid at $20.00. Also you can buy Evergreen numbers 346 and 350 and make your own. Mike

Thanks for that info, Kerry.
The question is; are these rails the same dimensions as those in a White Road Boss, or an Autocar A64B? Would these rails be good for splicing in/stretching the frames of the above kits? It seems like he's advertising using the complete rail, cut to length needed.

I think your right on the cut to length part. But hey just drop the guy a line on e-bay(if you have a account) and ask him the dimensions. Don't remember if he list the specs for them on his page. Hope it works out for ya. Kerry
